Carl Cameron made waves tonight on FOX News Channel as he gleefully reported anonymously sourced material painting Sarah Palin as an idiot and a royal pain in the neck. Among the charges a giddy Cameron reported as having come from sources inside the McCain campaign: Sarah answered the door in a heavy bathrobe, Sarah loved to shop, and Sarah didn’t know Africa is a continent.
Dead: Author Michael Crichton (66)
Best-selling author and Global Warming skeptic Michael Crichton has died at age 66 after quietly battling cancer.
Crichton is best known as the author of “Jurassic Park” and the creator of “ER.” His most recent novel, “Next,” about genetics and law, was published in December 2006.
“While the world knew him as a great story teller that challenged our preconceived notions about the world around us — and entertained us all while doing so — his wife Sherri, daughter Taylor, family and friends knew Michael Crichton as a devoted husband, loving father and generous friend who inspired each of us to strive to see the wonders of our world through new eyes,” the statement said. “He did this with a wry sense of humor that those who were privileged to know him personally will never forget.”
Through his books, Crichton served as an inspiration to students of all ages, challenged scientists in many fields, and illuminated the mysteries of the world in a way all could understand.
“He will be profoundly missed by those whose lives he touched, but he leaves behind the greatest gifts of a thirst for knowledge, the desire to understand, and the wisdom to use our minds to better our world,” the statement added.
NBC: In Gracious Speeches Bush And McCain Trying To Bask In Obama Glow
A little grist for my thesis via NBC’s commentary following President Bush’s congratulatory speech this morning:
LAUER: Very gracious comments from the president during extremely difficult times for him this morning.
TODD: Incredibly gracious. I mean, it was as if he wanted to bask in the reflected glory of the history that was made. Very — just like John McCain did last night. And it is more striking coming from the man who’s probably more responsible for not just Obama’s election but John McCain’s defeat than anybody else.
As much fun as it’s going to be as a conservative political observer to watch the Obama presidency devolve into a total disaster over the next four years, it’s going to be a nightmare as an American patriot. With every misstep America gets a little weaker. That’s not good for anyone.
You can’t blame Obama for seeking the Presidency or for lying, cheating and deceiving to win it. While I’m glad Republicans aren’t cheating lowlifes, I think we can call agree the Republican party could use a little more of the “We will do whatever it takes to win” mentality within reason. It’s not Barack Obama’s fault that he did what it took to win the election.
We are, however, supposed to have a firewall in this society to prevent a candidate from ascending to our highest office based on an entirely fictionalized presentation of himself, his history and his positions. The media is supposed to provide that function. They have not when it comes to Barack Obama.
Any discussion of rebuilding the conservative majority in government must start with a total reformation of what we consider to be the mainstream media.
Hey – Remember Those 200,000 Flaky New Ohio Registrations?
Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner took her fight to ignore mismatched information on 200,000 new voter registrations to the Supreme Court.
Now we know why it was so important to Brunner.
UPDATE III: 100% Percent of Ohio Precincts Reporting:
Obama 2,702,991
McCain 2,496,943
Difference: 206,048
Mission accomplished.
Figure in how no one was allowed to observe the casting of in-person absentee ballots (yes, that oxymoron is actual Ohio government reality), and you have yourself a 20 electoral vote cushion. Figure in the multitude of states in which the FBI is investigating ACORN’s activities, and you have a much more sinister picture.
Chris King: What A Class Act
Chris King didn’t attend a rally scheduled in Lower Southampton or call his opponent, Frank Farry, for his win in the 142nd district.
King supporters waited for his arrival at an Italian restaurant on Street Road.
“He didn’t show up,” said one supporter. “We’re leaving. But there are still people in [the restaurant.]”
At one point the election results were being displayed with a projector, but as the numbers for King dwindled the display was shut down.
The King campaign didn’t want to comment.
If you’re looking for a small glimmer of something good tonight, let it be that we’ll have a man committed to community representing PA’s 142nd House district in Harrisburg rather than a sniveling crybaby.
Says winner Frank Farry…
“I want to thank the people of the 142nd District for electing me to represent them in Harrisburg,” Farry said. “It’s a humbling experience to go through a campaign like this and receiving the opportunity to serve your community. … Tonight’s victory sends a clear message that we need to move in another direction in Harrisburg. … I’ll stand up for the people of this district every day, even if it means standing up to the leadership of my own party to advocate for the people I represent.”
A Word About Bucks County Republicans
I had the incredible good fortune of being among the many volunteers who gave their time and their efforts to electing John McCain, Sarah Palin and Tom Manion over the past couple of days. We were there, huddled around our space-aged telephones, dutifully calling voters.
I regret that the rigors of daily life prevented me from getting involved at this grassroots, shoe-leather-on-the-road level until the very end. I did what I could here – providing an outlet for all the information I could find. But, when push came to shove, I knew I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t get as involved as was humanly possible out there: Divorced from the keyboard and in one-on-one contact with the people.
Although the outcome was not the one we had hoped for and had worked for, I still count it among the most positive experiences I can remember. There were no David Plouffes or Steve Schmidts in the room. No high powered party bosses chomping cigars and cracking whips. What I found there was room after room, station after station, of every-day hard-working well-informed citizens concerned for the future of their country and dedicated to doing all they could toward electing the candidate that best represented their world view and values.
On The Bright Side…
…they always told me that racism was about who is in power, so there is officially no racism in America any more.
…Frank Farry beat that douchenozzle Chris King in the PA House race.
…anyone know to what address I start forwarding my mortgage statement come 1/20/2009?
…Israel took up a lot of space on the map anyway. Meh – who needs it?
…Jimmy Carter is off the hook.
…Someone’s going to make a killing off of loin girding equipment
…We now get to use the letter “H” derisively like the left uses the letter “W”
…The clock is ticking for Israel to destroy Iran in the next two months.
…Maybe having Mr. Reach Across The Aisle Gang of 14 trounced by the most unabashedly liberal Presidential candidate ever will finally cause the Republican party to rethink the strategy of nominating moderates and hoping it can out-Democrat the Democrats.
…Al Franken lost (Sore/Loserman style recount pending)
…We can show open disdain for Hillary Clinton again. PUMAs lied about their numbers and their influence.
…Campaign finance reform is dead.
Welcome To God Damned America
You wanted him, you got him. Now deal with the consequences.
Welcome to Bucks Right, your new home for Obama Derangement Syndrome. Good luck trying to govern, newbie. You’ll get the chance the left gave Bush.
Who is John Galt?

FOX: Philadelphia Black Panthers Blocking GOP Voters With Night Sticks
FOX News is reporting that 2 individuals wearing Black Panther Party garb, one brandishing a night stick, were blocking white voters from entering a polling place in Philadelphia while complaining that they were “tired of White Supremacy” and stating “a black man is going to win this election no matter what.”
Funky video of the report that someone recorded with a camcorder pointed at the television below.
Updated with watchable video.
Report: Vote Suppression Via Telephone in Lancaster County
Red State is reporting that voters in Pennsylvania’s conservative Lancaster County have been receiving telephone calls incorrectly informing them that their polling place has been moved in an attempt to suppress the vote in this expected McCain stronghold.
In at least one instance, the call was traced back to a Philadelphia-based cell phone.
