President-elect Donald Trump has appointed disloyal South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to be Ambassador to the UN, paving the way for one of his earliest supporters to take over the reins in the state.
Quick – name the current US Ambassador to the UN. You can’t, because it’s a stupid show appointment. The only recent one of any note was Susan Rice, and that’s only because she went on all of the Sunday morning shows to lie about a YouTube video having caused the Benghazi attacks so Crooked Hillary could sit at home and rest.
With Haley out as SC governor, early Trump loyalist Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster will become the new governor of the state.
In February, Haley used her opportunity to deliver the official Republican response to Obama’s State of the Union address to personally criticize Trump. During the primary campaign, Haley first supported Marco Rubio and then Ted Cruz, backing Trump only after he won the nomination. She withdrew her support when a video of Trump joking around about how easily women make themselves sexually available to stars like him surfaced. In late October she revealed that she would be voting for Trump despite the election turning her “stomach upside down.”
McMaster remained loyal to Trump throughout the process that saw him win the White House.
Haley, an outspoken Trump critic throughout much of the presidential race, would become his first female — and first nonwhite — Cabinet-level official if confirmed by the Senate. She’s the second Asian-American to serve as a U.S. governor.
