Aswad Ayinde, the 55-year old music video director most famous for the Fugee’s 1996 hit “Killing Me Softly,” was sentenced to 50 years in prison in his second of 5 expected trials for fathering six children with his daughters. Ayinde’s first trial resulted in a 40 year sentence.
Fugees lead singer Lauryn Hill is currently in Federal prison for failing to pay $1 million in taxes over a decade. Some bunch. North Jersey: Holla!
Ayinde‘s former wife testified that he repeatedly impregnated his own daughters to create a pure blood line. The “relationship” at the center of this second trial began when the daughter was a mere 8 years old, and Ayinde impregnated her 4 times. The former wife said Ayinde also starved and beat his daughters “using wooden boards and steel-toed boots for even ‘minor transgressions.'”
Some of his kids/grandkids were born in the family home. At least two died at or near the time of birth and were buried without any authorities being notified or birth certificate being issued.
The sexual assaults happened for almost 30 years until Mr. Ayinde and his wife separated, officials said. They occurred in numerous homes across northern New Jersey, even while the family was under watch of state child welfare officials, according to NBC New York. Some of the rapes even took place in an abandoned funeral home.
When is the former wife’s trial? There won’t be one. She was “too scared” to confront him or leave him. For 30 years. Because “Justice” or whatever.
The family mov[ed] as far away as Florida to avoid investigation after case workers removed multiple children from the Ayinde household in 2000, resulting in Mr. Ayinde being arrested for kidnapping for trying to take them from state custody in a medical center, NBC New York reported.
He pleaded guilty to lesser charges and received a year’s probation – as he continued raping one daughter for at least another two years, according to officials.
