First Lady and frequent free flier Moochelle Obama says her husband’s greying hair is “proof” that he is not only handling his job as President well but also deserves a second term.
If the President’s mysteriously on-again, off-again grey hair is a physical manifestation how much he deserves to be President, the ulcer his administration is giving me must qualify me to at least be Secretary of the Treasury or a Supreme Court justice.
“Every day, I see Barack make choices he knows will affect every American family,” Mrs. Obama said in an email blast to supporters. “That’s no small task for anyone — and more proof that he’s earning every last one of those gray hairs.”
How crass is it to blast money-grubbing emails to these glassy-eyed rose-colored-glass wearing supporters on the same day her husband’s policies cost most of us more than 5% of our retirement accounts?
The message is the latest effort by the president’s re-election campaign to use the occasion of Obama’s birthday to energize his followers and, indirectly, encourage the contribution of their time and money in the months ahead.
“This next year will challenge us all to work harder than ever before,” Mrs. Obama said, “but the crucial thing is that you’re here now, early on, helping to build this campaign.”
How about “hey, we made damn sure there were no jobs out there, so how about you use your newly found free time to help keep me in the air earning Air Force One frequent flier miles on the working saps’ dime?”
