Former NBC10 weekend / fill-in anchor Don Lemon – now of CNN – has announced that he’s gay. Because there was apparently some doubt.
At this point, I’m surprised when I find out someone in TV news isn’t gay. It’s starting to seem like a prerequisite. In any event, what’s with the grand pronouncement? Can’t anyone anywhere of any orientation just be quiet anymore? Had anyone given Don Lemon enough thought to even ask?
CNN’s Don Lemon, who reveals in a new memoir (“Transparent”) that he’s gay. The weekend anchor told the New York Times that most of his co-workers knew his orientation but that he wanted to come clean with the public: “If you’re going to be in the business of news, and telling people the truth . . . you’ve got to be honest. You’ve got to have the same rules for yourself as you do for everyone else.”
